Foot & Ankle Surgery

Foot and ankle procedures cover a wide range of surgeries - from arthrodesis and fracture repair to flat foot reconstruction and ankle replacement. Recovery typically involves a longer period in a cast before transitioning to a moon boot. Here's what you'll need at each stage.

Foot and ankle surgeries

For the following surgeries, you will have a back slab of the lower limb. Your cast will remain on for approximately 2 weeks, when it will be removed and a circular cast applied. Your cast will remain on for approximately 2 weeks, then a moon boot will be needed. It is important to keep the cast and the wounds dry; a cast protector is advised. During the first few weeks after surgery, you are not allowed to bear weight on your operated foot. Crutches, a kneestrider or a wheelchair is advised during this period.
